Frequently Asked Questions

Who are we
Art-tiles.co.uk is a trading arm under Heraldic Pottery Limited based in Stoke-on-Trent, with over 40 years experience and knowledge in the ceramics industry.

I'm an Artist, can you reproduce my work for me ?
If you are an artist or have prints that you would like reproducing for us to sell on our website or for yourself to sell please do not hesitate to contact us.

What process do you use to produce the images onto the tiles ?
All our images are printed either digitally or by silk screen using ceramic pigments to produce a waterslide transfer, once printed the images are submerged into water then transfered by hand directly onto the tiles. Once dry the tiles are then fired in kilns at temperatures of 850 degrees which fuses the transfers to the tile. The finished tiles being fired at this temperature ensures that they are durable to be used and cleaned on a daily basis without fading, scratching or being damaged.

What are the tile sizes that you supply ?
We supply tiles that are 97mm x 97mm (4" Square), 147mm x 147mm (6" Square) and 197mm by 197mm (8" Square). Other sizes are available please contact us for further details.

What sort of tiles do you use ?
All of our tiles are produced by the UK's leading manufacturer of ceramic tiles, which have been produced under IS09001 Quality Systems and comply with BS EN 14411: 2003. Environmentally friendly approximately 27% of the tile has been produced from recycled materials.

What about fixing and cleaning ?
Fixing should be carried out using a non-abrasive grout, please check with your tiler as grouts vary, alternatively tiles could be fitted to a backing board or within a frame and hung like a picture, grout would not normally be required in this situation.
Cleaning should be carried out using a soft sponge or cloth using warm water to which a neutral, low sulphate detergent has been added.

Do you have Limits of Liabilty ?
Art-tiles.co.uk (trading as Heraldic Pottery Limited) accepts no liability for faulty installation of its product. In the unlikely event of a claim relating to the tiles themselves Art-tile.co.uk (trading as Heraldic Pottery Limited) liability is limited to the purchase price of the product and does not extend to consequential loss. Claims cannot be considered after the tiles have been installed.

I know the image I want, but it doesn't fit my space. Can you make a mural to fit?
For most images we can re-size the image to fit into any space. This usually involves cropping of the image. If you send us an e-mail with the name of the image, the artist and what size you are looking for, we will send you back an example of what the fixed image will look like.
